"Big Beat" Reunions on Hastings Pier
Now and again someone tries to re-create the past and the best of the 1960's.
That happened in 1987, 88 and 89 when Lloyd Johnson with the help of Chris Sayer decided to organise a "party" for a local charity.
The idea was to get the best local bands of the 1960's (The Confederates and The Talismen), together with the "big names" of the same era to create the biggest "party nights" of the 1980s. Each of the three "Big Beat Nights" were a stunning success and effectively turned the clock back 25+ years. What happend to the missing years nobody knows but catching up with old friends was emotional and brilliant!
Old friends met and carried on their conversations as if it were yesterday.
Some were wearing the same clothes and perhaps the only identifiable changes were in the weight and hair loss departments. WHO CARES! they were GREAT.
